Re: 2011 Pirates of the Carribean Rumour Thread
I am against it all the way. I am a purist of the LEGO Pirates line, and a POTC line would ruin it, its like having a pirates line, while not having one. I like POTC a lot, but I don't want a LEGO line version of it.

Edit: On second thoughts, if they had wigs or Bluecoats in the line, that would chang my opinion slightly. Slightly!

Shouldn't this be in the "Licensed Themes" sub-forum?
also I'm for i, even though I'm not a big fan, it would still be the first pirates I'd ever buy(I like fleshies and that Jack Sparrow looks spiffy, not only that, but being the hero he's also affordable).

Theme almost confirmed:

Hey guys, browsed through only the last 2 pages of this thread and it seems that there is still doubt about it's existence. I've recently seen a pdf file given to dealers of next year's lifestyle products, and it's pretty much confirmed that PotC is coming out as a theme next year as there were minifigure keychains of them. I'm not really able to recall exactly how many and who, but after finally watching Curse of the Black Pearl for the first time yesterday, I have reason to believe that it is based on the first movie, as the minifigures I can recall are:
Captain Barbossa
Captain Jack Sparrow
Elizabeth Swan (didn't look very nice imo)
Black Guy with dreadlocks (One of Barbossa's crew right?)
Another Black Guy with creepy eyes (I think)
Note that I could not see much or in close detail, but given the fact that keychains are already being marketed to dealers can pretty much confirm that PotC is coming out next year. I'm sorrry for not having any pictures or anything to confirm this, but trust me.

Re: 2011 Pirates of the Carribean Rumour Thread
Let me think......On one hand we can have a pirates theme, which I'm sure will bring lots of awesome figs and parts or we can stay where we are....no pirates at all.
I think I'll take the first option
I think I'll take the first option
Re: 2011 Pirates of the Carribean Rumour Thread
I would like to see a licensed pirate theme, but POTC really isn't what I was thinking for a replacement (more along the lines of bringing back new Disney-owned MARVEL), but this will do. Sure, I'd buy some small sets, but noting major (like the Black Pearl). Also, like Batman, POTC was kind of an....extreme movie, that would inspire kids watching those creepy zombies in Curse of the Black Pearl.

Check out this!
These too!
I'm also confused about the release date. It is coming out at a time when sets don't usually don't come out, and the video game comes out the same month, too. I'm questionable about this, but I hope it's true.

Do you guys think this theme will last a long time or will it just be a couple of waves?

Ratshot wrote:Do you guys think this theme will last a long time or will it just be a couple of waves?
Nope, just like Indiana Jones. One big wave, then one smaller one, and a game some where in the middle. Given the movies are newer then IJ, I might be wrong.
But if it means I can grow my pirate collection, I like it!Octan

Not really a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, but the sets look epic, and my mom's a fan of Johnny Depp, so I might buy a few.

Well it seems that there are Americans in At Stranger Tides, but will they be in the sets? Who knows.
Anyway, I sort of have mixed feelings about it, I actually don't really care that much. It's sort of like Hero Factory to me, except I'll get use out of pieces from this theme.

Well what does Jersey Shore have to do with POTC LEGO? Just because it was released on MTV doesn't mean other shows have to be brought up. It wasn't aimed directly at you but so others wouldn't start replying about Jersey Shore, etc.

They do look better than I thought.
I like some of the new molds, but some of those hats look oversized and goofy looking.
I hope it's like a wig, but if it's not, it's probably a mold together.
